SEC Extends Compliance Timeline for Investment Company Reporting
In April the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) delayed the compliance date for finalized amendments to investment company reporting requirements on Form N-PORT. The rule, finalized in August 2024, would require certain registered funds to report portfolio-related data more frequently. Specifically, certain funds would need to report on a monthly basis and within 30 days after the end of each month and these reports would be public 60 days after the end of the month. According to the press release, larger fund groups would have until November 17, 2027 (formerly November 17, 2025), while smaller fund groups would have until May 18, 2028 (formerly May 18, 2026). The release states that the extension is to allow the Commission “complete its review of the amendments in accordance with a Presidential Memorandum and take any further appropriate actions, which may include proposed amendments to Form N-PORT.”
