What the New DEI Landscape Means for Directors
In a recent article geared toward corporate directors, attorney Jen Rubin offers guidelines for boards to consider as they navigate the change in DEI landscape under the Trump Administration. She notes that a board can minimize risk if it carefully considers policies and deliberate “in the same way it considers other board agenda items.” She notes that discussions with legal counsel can help set the parameters for a framework while also using data that highlights the benefits boards may reap from diverse voices. The author also recommends that boards “conduct DEI tabletop exercises and DEI data read-outs and dive deeply into questions about how DEI programs align with the corporate mission and goals.” For fund directors, the author’s suggestions should be combined with an in-depth conversation with legal counsel and the management team regarding how to chart a course ahead in the DEI space.
