Banking Ranking Member Scott Releases Priorities for 118th Congress

The current Ranking Member of the Senate Banking Committee, Senator Tim Scott (R-SC), released his policy priorities and areas of focus for the 118th Congress. Included in this list are:

  • Promoting Access to Credit
  • Increasing Capital Formation and Fostering Innovation
  • Increasing Financial Literacy Among Americans
  • Regulatory Oversight
  • Advancing Housing Opportunity
  • Developing a Framework for Digital Assets

Included under “Regulatory Oversight” are priorities that reduce the burden of agency action and ensure that each agency the Committee has oversight of is acting within the bounds of their statutory authority. Additionally, Ranking Member Scott notes, “[a]gency action should not drive or support the isolation of legal industries from lending and investment opportunities simply because they may be viewed as politically disfavored…”
