SEC Releases Registered Fund Statistics Report

On April 24, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) released a new report titled “Registered Fund Statistics.” The report consists of aggregated data collected from registered investment companies on Form N-PORT. The report, which is set be published quarterly, will cover industry statistics such as “portfolio holdings, flows and returns, interest rate risk, and other exposures.” Additionally, the report contains specific data on securities lending by registered investment companies, including the gross value of securities on loan by funds and the number of funds with securities on loan. The Commission already provides certain aggregated data from private funds and money market funds. Chair Gary Gensler noted “This new report will give the public a view into the registered fund industry,” adding that, “Investors, issuers, economists, academics, and the public at large benefit from such regularly published economic data.”
