Popular Blog Post: Mutual Fund Directors Forum Board Recruitment Series
This week, the Forum News Feed will highlight popular posts over the last few months. We will return with new content beginning on Tuesday, September 5.
Last October, the Mutual Fund Directors Forum published a four-part series on the board recruitment process highlighting the use of executive search firms, alternative candidate search tools, succession planning, building personal networks, and general questions to consider when looking to fill a vacancy. The series encourages boards to account for the cost, time, professional skill requirements, and the board’s personal networks before embarking on a search for potential candidates. The series also highlights issues to consider when using an executive search firm versus using personal networks to search for potential candidates. There are also organizations such as the Latino Corporate Directors Association, the National Association of Corporate Directors, Take Your Seat, Extraordinary Women on Boards, and others work with prospective directors on board preparedness and networking with current board members. Lastly, the series emphasizes the need to prepare for turnover on your board by beginning early and building a network of potential candidates before you need them.
