Summer Reading: Building and Sustaining Great Boards
RHR International, which for 75 years has provided boards with recruiting services and governance thought leadership, recently published an ebook comprising practical guidance, past blogs, and articles on high-performing boards. The ebook titled “Building and Sustaining Great Boards,” includes chapters on maximizing board functioning; the partnership between a board and senior management; board evaluations; the importance of director feedback; psychology in the boardroom; and board renewal. While the material is primarily aimed at corporate boards and directors, fund boards may find the governance discussions and insights relevant to their board operations. RHR defines a “great board” as “a team of exceptionally competent leaders committed to the long-term mission of the business. These leaders understand their singular accountability is pursuing their shareholders’ best interests while considering the interests of other stakeholders.”
