White House Nominates Peirce to Additional Term
SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce has been nominated to serve until 2025, according to a release from the White House. The nomination has been sent to the Senate. In recent remarks at the SEC’s Investor Advisory Committee meeting Peirce expressed doubts regarding the agency’s attempts to structure an ESG disclosure model, saying: “A new SEC disclosure framework for ESG information, … seems an unnecessary response when our existing securities disclosure framework is very good at handling all types of material information.” Peirce has been a strong advocate for innovation and has won support from cryptocurrency advocates since joining the Commission in 2018.
