Assessing Outside Cyber Risks, Mounting a Proper Defense
A recent article asserts that firms relying on weak interfaces to interact with cloud services face security threats around data confidentiality, integrity, availability and accountability. While firms may have addressed internal cyber security, threats from the outside are often more pernicious. “[T]hird-party providers are often the vector that cyber intruders exploit in order to reach the intended target.” Emerging threats include attackers using employee login information to remotely access sensitive data stored on the cloud, falsify and manipulate data through hijacked credentials or inject malware, the authors write. They propose that firms approach cybersecurity holistically, taking all possible protections inside and outside. “Threat-aware companies build cybersecurity environments similar to the immune system of the human body.” Join ACA Compliance and the Mutual Fund Directors Forum along with industry and regulatory experts to discuss cybersecurity from the fund director’s perspective on September 10 from 10am-12pm in New York.
