Commissioner Jackson to Step Down

According to media reports, SEC Commissioner Robert Jackson is expected to leave his post to begin teaching at New York University Law School in the fall. The Wall Street Journal reports that Jackson’s term ends in June, but he could choose to remain at the Commission until 2020.  If Jackson leaves before another commissioner is appointed, the two Democratic seats on the Commission would be vacant. The WSJ reports that the vacancies could result in a more conservative tilt in the agency’s regulatory decisions. The White House recently announced that it planned to nominate Allison H. Lee, a former SEC staffer, to a Democratic Commissioner post.
