Banking Committee Staffer May be up for Piwowar Spot on Commission

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Elad Roisman, chief counsel to the Senate Banking Committee under Chairman Mike Crapo, is being considered for the SEC Commissioner seat to be vacated by Commissioner Michael Piwowar. Roisman, 37, has worked in the financial services industry and on Capitol Hill. If nominated and confirmed, Roisman would fill the Republican vacancy held by Commissioner Piwowar until July 7, 2018. At a recent conference Piwowar discussed his tenure at the Commission, recent rules and the proposals on conduct standards for investment advisers and urged industry participants to submit comments on the proposals. Piwowar also suggested that an ETF rule may be proposed before he leaves the Commission in early July.
