SEC/Treasury Request Additional Trade Reporting for US Treasury Securities

The SEC and Treasury Department recently announced “that they are working together to explore efficient and effective means of collecting U.S. Treasury cash market transaction information.”  As a first step to gathering this information, they called on FINRA to consider rules that would require FINRA registered brokers and dealers to report Treasury cash market transactions.  According to the press release, the Treasury Department received broad support for more comprehensive reporting on Treasury cash market transactions in response to its recent request for information.
