Questions to Consider Regarding Board Effectiveness

Boardmember.com recently published an interesting article on how boards can assess and increase their effectiveness.  Based on a series of discussions with various CEOs, board chairs and individual directors, the authors suggest key areas of inquiry that a board should consider in order to help evaluate its effectiveness, including:

1) Does the board play a significant role in setting the agenda for full board meetings?

2) Has board process “squeezed out” time for discussion and debate?

3) Is the board culture tailored to achieving high performance?

4) Does the board exert independent leadership?

The article includes a full discussion of each of these issues and is available here.
