Reports Say SEC Examiners Looking into Funds’ Valuation of Private Companies

According to reports, the SEC has sent examination letters or interviewed people at mutual funds, including T. Rowe Price and Fidelity Investments, regarding valuations of private companies held in their funds, including Uber Technologies Inc. and Airbnb Inc. The SEC is asking fund managers about their comparison of private technology companies to publicly traded companies to derive a startup’s value, according to the reports.
