Accounting Groups Formulating Standards to Improve Valuation Experts’ Analyses

According to a Wall Street Journal report, various accounting groups have combined to develop a new certification program that would set standards for how valuation experts should document their analyses and foster accountability in management with respect to defending their valuation conclusions. According to the report, the accounting trade group is collaborating with the American Society of Appraisers and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors to work out the details of the program, which could be announced by the end of the year.
