Scott M. Weiner

Dr. Scott M. Weiner is an experienced senior executive with a distinguished career in financial services. Dr. Weiner was the Global Head of Quantitative Solutions, Chair of the Index Committee, and the first ETF Portfolio Manager for Janus Henderson Investors.  A recognized leader in the ETF industry, he is the author of The Complete Guide to ETF Portfolio Management, published by McGraw Hill. His strategies have served as the basis for several billion dollars in investments, and in multiple client-facing roles, he directly communicated with senior officials from clients and potential investors.  Dr. Weiner also worked closely with the Boards of Trustees for the Clayton Street and Detroit Street Trusts, which house the products he managed. He served on the Board of Directors of the Janus Henderson Foundation.

Prior to his role at Janus Henderson, Dr. Weiner was a Managing Director and the US Head of Equity Derivatives and Quantitative Strategy at Deutsche Bank. As a senior member of the Research team, Dr. Weiner was voted to the Institutional Investor All-American Research Team as Wall Street’s top Equity Derivatives Strategist for both Accessibility and Responsiveness to Clients and for Investment Ideas. Dr. Weiner led the team that designed and built DB’s client portfolio optimization system and represented the firm on multiple occasions on CNBC.

During his time at Deutsche Bank, Dr. Weiner founded Veterans on Wall Street (VOWS™).  Moved to action by General John Abizaid’s call for better recruitment efforts for returning veterans, Dr. Weiner built VOWS™, an organization dedicated to providing career services and broader opportunities in the finance sector for our nation’s military heroes.  He led the effort to build a partnership across Wall Street firms, leading to a syndicate including Goldman Sachs, Citigroup, HSBC, and Wells Fargo. As a result of his work, Deutsche Bank received the Seven Seals Award from the U.S. Military for “meritorious leadership and initiative in support of the men and women who serve America in the National Guard and Reserve.”

Dr. Weiner completed a bachelor’s degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, master’s and doctoral degrees from Oxford University, and the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University. He is an active member of Harvard Community Partners, a pro bono consulting group that advises non-profit boards.
