In Focus Archive: Board Oversight of Securities Lending

The Forum's In Focus series is a virtual roundtable series for fund directors and CCOs. During these one-hour virtual meetings, guest experts will join us to present and then take questions and comments from directors and CCOs. These discussions are designed to be more interactive than a typical webinar, and are offered free of charge to all current fund independent directors and CCOs.

This session will focus on board oversight of securities lending with Marney McCabe, Co-head of Global Securities Lending at Brown Brothers Harriman (BBH), and Garrett Berkery, Head of Risk Management for Global Securities Lending at BBH. Marney and Garrett will:

Provide a securities lending overview
Address key roles and responsibilities, including those of directors and CCOs, and key questions you should be asking your fund management team
Discuss the benefits and costs to the funds, impact on shareholder value
Tackle myths and misconceptions about securities lending, including with respect to the recent Gamestop issue, short selling concerns, and how boards can work to help ensure the right risk/reward balance for their funds

This event originally took place on Zoom on Tuesday, May 4, 2021.
