Last week, we posted on the SEC's schedule for making rules mandated by the Dodd-Frank Act. The Davis Polk law firm has published a colorful series of slides illustrating the effective dates for various agency rulemakings required, and statutory amendments made by Dodd-Frank. According to Davis Polk, these slides should be used in conjunction with its client memo summarizing the Dodd-Frank legislation.
The slides focus on timing and implementation and are not intended to be relied on as stand-alone descriptions of the Dodd-Frank bill. Rather, the slides should be read together with the Davis Polk memo, Summary of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, Enacted into Law on July 21, 2010. It is important to keep in mind that the rules issued by the various regulators will likely also have their own implementation timeframes.
This series of slides may be useful in understanding the sweeping reforms and timescale of the legislation. For example, the slide pictured below lays out nicely the extent and timing of investor protection reforms.
