The ABA's Investment Companies and Investment Advisers Subcommittee recently published a survey of significant legal developments in the investment management field. The "Investment Management Legal Review (Year-End Review 2009)" is a guide to significant rule-making proposals, regulatory guidance, SEC orders, enforcement proceedings, litigation and legislation affecting the investment management industry during 2009. Broken down into easy-to-digest charts, the survey is an easy reference to the legal, legislative, and regulatory events shaping the industry last year.
Although the entire report is extremely useful, of particular interest to directors is Section VII, conveniently listing significant speeches, practical guidance releases, and reports industry participants should be aware of. This helpful summary is an excellent resource, and given its title, it appears that the ABA plans to make the report an annual publication.
